Modern Faces release double A side single – ‘Pravda Scrolls’ – ‘Cynical Brother’

We first featured the Modern Faces back in May last year and apparently we were one of the first to write about the band so it’s so good to see them doing so well.

The Scottish 5 piece are releasing their debut single on the 9th of April, a double A-side release of ‘Pravda Scrolls’ / ‘Cynical Brother’ through Dirty Love Records.

“‘Pravda Scrolls’ is a politically driven indie anthem full of dark guitars and brooding, intense vocals while ‘Cynical Brother’ has a punchy, heavy guitar riff throughout with thumping drums and epic vocals”.

Check out the video for ‘Pravda Scrolls’ we love it!

So the single is on the way, debut album will be released later this year, 2012 we’re going to be hearing and reading the words Modern Faces a whole lot more!

While we have you we love this from the band – Biz Session (The Sun) – ‘Bright Lights Bigger City’, Cee Lo Green Cover

Modern Faces to support Kasabian

Broccoli Events – Bands for Brands

Being known as an events company with a strong music background is great. We get all the latest industry tips on bands that are making waves in the UK music scene.
This is fantastic for brands working with us at Broccoli as we offer them access to cutting edge bands to perform at their events and the kudos that goes with it claiming they had the band that just broke into the big time.
We’ve identified an avenue for brands to tap into the youth market and it’s through this ability to work with breaking bands, connect directly with their fans, creating online content through video and photography which then has the ability to go viral continuing the event/product promotion which is truly invaluable.

This is our latest hot tip…

Modern Faces
Lee Montgomery (Lead Vocal/Guitar)
Michael O’Reilly (Lead Guitar)
James Shields (Keyboards)
Jamie Macfarlane (Bass)
Gary Heaney (Drums/Backing Vocals)

“Our immediate aim is to keep making great music and to play some summer festivals that would be awesome especially if we can get TITP, but looking along the horizon I think we all wanna make that great debut album, one that sits in everyone’s top 50 greatest albums list forever..that’s the bigger ambition”.

Modern Faces are a 5 piece band from Dunfermline, Scotland who take their influences from the 60’s and their attitude & swagger from the 90’s.
They’re Inspired by the likes of The Stone Roses, Oasis & The Verve and their aim is to throw some attitude back into British music and produce a few top-drawer, anthemic, stomping albums along the way!

Since forming they have gathered a massive hometown following and proved this by playing to a 900 strong sell-out crowd at Dunfermline’s Velocity in April of 2010, as well as consistently selling out pj mollys very intimate 350 capacity venue.

They released their EP ‘No Mans Land’ in April of 2010 which attracted the ears of many within the industry.

The band have supported the likes of Shed Seven, Starsailor and playing the Primal Scream after show party in Brixton in March 2011.

“Its just gone crazy, we’ve been asked back to play Liverpool Sound City Festival for a second year running, we’ve got Festival dates popping up all over the country playing with the likes of Mystery Jets, Beardyman, The Rifles, traveling with our own crew, meetings with lawyers all stuff we hadn’t expected so quickly and then a couple of weeks back Gary and i (Monty) took a call outside Beady Eye and it was Tom Meighan on the phone asking if we’d like to support Kasabian on their pre Festival 2011 warm up tour in Sheffield at the 02 Academy on 4th June and in Manchester at the 02 Apollo on 8th June , we were gob smacked and thought it was a complete wind up but its all real and we’re loving it right now so onwards and upwards”.

“Modern Faces remind me of us when we were young, ready and willing to do anything for the thrill of being in a rock n roll band, there highlanders”
Tom Meighan, Kasabian

Life In Film – The Sun ‘Hot Tracks’

This is why we love Broccoli Music. The music promoters are always searching the UK for the next big band to play their live music nights and we get access to their latest and greatest bands.

The November show at The Monarch features Life In Film and whilst browsing through The Sun on the tube on Friday I saw this…

We have some great events planned for the end of 2010 start of 2011, lots of private parties, product launches, PR campaigns, corporate events and we’re very keen to put this band forward.

You can catch the band live at Broccoli Music’s Pull UP The Roots night at The Monarch in Camden on Wednesday 17th November. I believe tickets are on sale so check the event listing on The Monarch website.

Not to be missed we here!

The band also featured on the Glastonbury BBC Introducing stage!

Kasabian’s Tom Meighan teams up with Leicester band SuperEvolver

SuperEvolver have teamed up with Kasabian front man Tom Meighan to release a charity single ‘Viva la revolution’ . All proceeds go to Harley Staples Cancer Trust and UNICEF’s Pakistan Flood Children’s Appeal.

The band are playing Broccoli Music live event Pull up the Roots 15th December at The Monarch in Camden.

PRESS:

TOM MEIGHAN has teamed up with Leicester band SUPEREVOLVER to record a charity single.
Viva La Revolution, out on November 8, has a very KASABIAN feel.
You can download it from iTunes.

Kasabian’s Tom Meighan is to feature on a new single from fellow Leicester band Superevolver to raise funds for UNICEF’s Pakistan Flood Children’s Appeal and the Harley Staples Cancer Trust.

To date, the flooding in Pakistan has affected over 18 million people, around 9 million of them children. A disaster of unprecedented scale, all five provinces of the country have been affected. UNICEF’s Pakistan Flood Children’s Appeal is raising £90 million to scale up the distribution of clean water, vaccinations and rehydration salts.

The Kasabian frontman has put his unique vocal stamp on Viva La Revolution with Superevolver, joining them in pledging all proceeds from sales to UNICEF and the Harley Staples Cancer Trust, a Leicester charity set up in memory of local eight year old Harley, who lost his battle with cancer last November.

In addition to Tom doing his bit for charity, work on the single must be a welcome distraction from the lack of Kasabian activity at the moment, with the band taking a break to concentrate on family. We reported last month Tom would be working on solo material, could this be a taster for things to come?

Written by Superevolver frontman James Mabbett, Viva La Revolution featuring Tom Meighan will be available to download from iTunes, Amazon, Zune, last.fm, Myspace and Spotify from November 8th through Telescope Records. The download also features a bonus remix from Dan Thomas.

The Sun are backing Buster Shuffle’s ‘Save The 100 Club’ song

It seems The Sun has got wind of Buster Shuffle’s ‘Save The 100 Club’ song and are now backing it!

It’s amazing to see one of our favourite bands in the press and mentioned in the same breath as David Bowie, Oasis and Paul Weller.

We’ve worked on lots of live events and corporate events with Buster Shuffle, Nokia Comes With Music Human Jukebox, Bollocks To Poverty Live with Action Aid and the launch of Marston’s EPA on St George’s Day.

Here’s some footage from the Nokia campaign…

First laugh of the day courtesy of Stefan Abingdon – thank you!!

So i was on my way to work this morning and picked up a discarded copy of the Sun that was left on the seat next to me on the tube. Whilst flicking through with cold hands i came to the bizarre section and noticed a familiar face looking at me, Stefan Abingdon! Have worked with this talented young musician a couple of times; he played one of our sister companies, Broccoli Music, live events at The Old Queens Head with his band Perfect People and most recently he played an acoustic set at The Nokia Finnish Christmas playing some rather festive songs for the product launch of one of their phones which we at Broccoli Events booked all the bands for.

So what a lovely surprise to see a promising musician gaining the acoloades he so rightly deserves…so what did i read?? With his band The Midnight Beast (one of many Stefan features in) they have become Youtube starlets with their cheeky spoof version of Ke$ha’s ‘Tik Tok’. I couldn’t wait to get to work and take a look for myself…worth the wait? It gave me my first laugh of the day so i had to share this with you
