New favorite band SULK

We bloody adore Sulk, they are an incredible live band!! We have been following them for a while after they played Pull up the Roots at the start of 2011.

After a break writing new material and recording the beautiful video in Ibiza they are back, but still keeping us all hanging with no tracks online for us to hear, I guess we will all just have to be patient and wait for ‘Wishes’ to be officially released in August with Back in Bloom to follow (our personal favorite).

Front man Jon Sutcliffe was down at Roots to chat about the single with Pink in the garden, interview will be online soon at Rootstv.

Check out the video for Wishes

Filming Warehouse Republic later today

Tonight we are off to Camden to do an interview for Rootstv with Warehouse Republic at ‘Flashbax‘ 5am special – ‘Kasabian Aftershow Party’ post Kasabian’s LIVE performance for the iTunes festival 2011.

Warehouse Republic debut single ‘Revolver’ was released in December 2010 to the tune of “song of the week” and “band of the week” type accolades. The music video for the single stars Hollywood actress Rachel Hurd-Wood (Perfume, Peter Pan) and young new actor Henry Leroy salter

The lovely Red will chatting to the boys about single releases, videos, gigs and of course playing the manage, collaborate and kill game!

It’s still number one its T.O.T.P

Very happy to hear the news the much loved Top of the Pops is coming back!
The Legendary Sir Jimmy Savile will be hosting the show bringing back 30 years of Top of the Pops.

It starts tomorrow night on BBC4 with an episode that first aired April 1st 1976 then it will be aired in consecutive order every Thursday just like they used to be. I used to love Thursday nights hearing that iconic music Led Zeppelin – Whole Lotta Love start and the whole family sitting down to watch it and then as i got older getting drunk and watching it with mates!

For those of us who were to young or not even born when TOTP first started we will be able to see dance troupe Pan’s People and Legs and Co strut their stuff to much loved classics on the telly and not on youtube.

So many people have tried to bring back Top of the Pops (oh well Simon Cowell) or copy it in some way, but with the sad state of the charts these days it just wouldn’t work, back then all the greats would come together live on a Thursday at the BBC in London and play music everyone loved, the variety of music worked then and it was cool to be asked to play on the show, bands would see it as a poignant moment in their career.

The Who, Rolling Stones, Small Faces, The Kinks, The Beatles, Hendrix, Bowie, Black Sabbath, Iggy Pop Abba, Madonna, Nirvana, The Stone Roses, Oasis, Blur, Madness, The Specials, Christ i could go on but you see my point, everyone has played.

Here are some of my favourite videos to wet your appetite!

I was lucky enough to work on the show a few times when I was 18, hanging out in the star bar with the like of Madness, Kasabian, Baby Shambles and more, was a great time and what a way to spend a Thursday night. When the show ended in 2006 it was a mad grab to take home any piece of historic memorabilia you could get, I have a massive part of the back drop framed!

My opinion is Andi Peters killed TOTP, Chris Cowey was a legend in the music industry and he made TOTP cool from the day he started, if he never left the show we wouldn’t of been left with the karaoke pop Peters brought to it!
Alas lets just reminisce every Thursday night on BBC4 and remember the good old times.
